David "Wee Man" Williams

Up and coming grom David Williams is showing some good form and notching up some tidy contest results and has just spent the summer hols training with Carwyn in France. Heres a few shoots I took when I caught up with him at Langland and PR earlier this year.

First tidy swell autumn 09

The first decent swell this autumn brought the South Gower reefs alive breaking along the coast from 3ft to 6ft+ on some of the more exposed headlands. I got up early and went on a mission with Jon Lewin and Ben Wyeth two fellow surf shooters. Checking a few spots at the back of HW it was decided to  hit one of the famous "Three". Rumours of a rammed Crab Island with a host of longboarders straying from Saga Point and a classic session at Fall Wedge and plenty of more confirmed hits at other spots it was a good day for surfers on the Gower. With a tidy line up with Lloyd, Frenchie, Jacket, Bentos, The Cat, Johnny Davies, Neil Parry, Steve Bevan, Mark Gear, Jack Cotteril, Simon Biccles, Tim Thomas, Julian Poffley, Tom John, Beth Mason, Yonit Kittay to name a few, split between two reefs, with Will Begg and Kook  on the next reef over.

Heres some more shots including a couple of the lifeguards being put through their paces when a strong rip kicked in at the Rotherslade side of beach,  not helped by a sudden wind shift to the north west. Not shooting the late evening glass off as had to surf myself this happened just prior to a thunder storm from hell with three  forked lighting strikes on The Sand Bar. Later Guts paddled out on his SUP with kevlar paddle to act as a lightening conductor he always puts the safety of other water users first.
